Over the decades there are scams that stand out for their scale or comedy. These are those tales in Legendary Scams by SCSX.
Back in 2012 the Group Break scene was on fire but yet still evolving. There were a couple of huge breakers but a lot of it got done by small players. We still see a lot of that today, but the market is more ran by big breakers now.
With the little breakers you also had to deal with a little shenanigans. The guy was basically ran off the scene in 2012 for this incredibly aloof attempt at a swap out.
On his eBay account bryan010178, Thrasher099 on youtube listed a group break of a single box of 2011 Panini Limited Football. Good year for the product with a good rookie class that included Cam Newton, Julio Jones and AJ Green. It’s so good that some joker in this group decided to make the master set of Topps for the year his life’s calling. Unfortunately for everyone involved Ole Thrasher just couldn’t keep his hand out of the cookie jar and at 2:29 in this video utter the words “I don’t know what that is” as he tosses a redemption aside.
It’s clear to us that regardless of intent here there is no record of him ever revealing what the card is or giving it to it’s rightful owner. His LONG pause and shaky hands tell us that it was probably a good one. Hope it was worth it pal.
